Segment Highlights
Electric Vehicles (EVs)
Tata Motors’ EV portfolio continued to strengthen its dominance in the Indian market. September sales stood at 9,191 units, almost double compared to the same month last year, reflecting a 96% growth. In Q2 FY26, Tata sold 24,855 EVs, registering a 59% year-on-year increase, the highest quarterly EV sales ever recorded by the company. EVs contributed nearly 17% of total PV sales, underlining their growing importance in Tata’s strategy. Models like the Nexon EV, Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Punch EV have played a key role in achieving this milestone.
CNG Vehicles
CNG models achieved a new benchmark with 17,800+ units sold in Q2 FY26, more than double the previous year, marking 105% growth. Rising fuel prices and the affordability of CNG variants are pushing more customers to opt for these vehicles, making Tata one of the leaders in this category.
SUV Strength
The Nexon achieved record sales of over 22,500 units in September, setting a new all-time high for any Tata passenger vehicle in a single month. Tata’s international business (PV IB) saw significant growth in September. Exports stood at 1,240 units, a 396% increase year-on-year. For Q2 FY26, exports totaled 4,208 units, a massive 411% growth compared to the same period last year. The company also marked its entry into South Africa, highlighting its ambition to strengthen its international presence alongside domestic dominance.
Festive and Policy Boost
The rollout of GST 2.0 has improved vehicle affordability, giving the entire auto industry a boost. Combined with the festive tailwinds of Navratri, Tata Motors saw record dealer retails across categories. SUVs witnessed more than 60% growth in customer deliveries, while demand for CNG and EVs surged further, driven by attractive pricing and festive discounts.
