Yamaha Motor India has officially reduced the prices of its YZF-R3 and MT-03 motorcycles by ₹20,000. This move follows the GST 2.0 tax reforms, under which motorcycles with engines below 350cc now attract only 18% GST instead of 28%.

The updated pricing makes both models more accessible, helping Yamaha strengthen its position in the growing mid-size twin-cylinder motorcycle segment.

New Yamaha R3 and MT-03 Prices (Ex-Showroom India)

Yamaha MT-03₹ 3,49,900₹ 3,29,000₹ 20,000 ↓

With this reduction, the on-road price difference ranges from ₹22,000 to ₹25,000, depending on state taxes and registration fees.

This change makes both bikes better value compared to rivals like KTM Duke 390 and TVS Apache RR 310, which now face renewed competition in the ₹3–₹3.5 lakh segment.

Yamaha R3 and MT-03 Engine and Performance

Both motorcycles share the same 321cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, producing 42 PS at 10,750 rpm and 29.5 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring refined performance for both city and highway rides.

Yamaha R3 Design and Features

The Yamaha YZF-R3 retains its supersport DNA from the R-Series lineup. It features twin LED projector headlights, a fully digital instrument console, and aerodynamic bodywork designed for high-speed stability.

Key highlights include:

  • R-DNA inspired styling
  • Clip-on handlebars
  • Slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts
  • 37mm KYB USD forks for improved cornering

The R3’s ergonomics balance sporty aggression with long-ride comfort, making it one of the most refined middleweight sportbikes in India.

Yamaha MT-03 Design and Features

The Yamaha MT-03 offers a contrasting personality — more aggressive and minimalist, following Yamaha’s “Dark Side of Japan” design language. It’s powered by the same 321cc engine but tuned for a street-friendly posture.

Feature highlights:

  • Sharp, naked design with LED lighting
  • Wide handlebars for upright riding comfort
  • Lightweight chassis for agile handling
  • LCD digital display

Both models are built on the same platform but cater to different riders — the R3 for sport-focused riders and the MT-03 for everyday urban enthusiasts.

Ride Quality and Handling

The R3 and MT-03 are praised for their smooth engine refinement, lightweight handling, and balanced suspension setup. The R3 feels composed at high speeds, while the MT-03 offers everyday usability without losing excitement.

The parallel-twin motor provides a linear power delivery, making these models perfect upgrades for riders moving from 200–250cc single-cylinder motorcycles.
