Mahindra Vision S – A Glimpse Into the Future
Mahindra has officially unveiled its Vision S Concept SUV on India’s 79th Independence Day, marking a bold step toward the brand’s next-generation design language and product roadmap. Positioned as a showcase of Mahindra’s upcoming global SUVs, the Vision S blends rugged SUV proportions with futuristic styling elements. Alongside this concept, Mahindra also introduced the X, T, and SXT prototypes—together forming the ambitious “Vision Series” that signals the company’s future direction.
Exterior Design: Rugged Yet Futuristic

At first glance, the Mahindra Vision S makes a strong statement with its upright, boxy stance and bold detailing. Up front, the familiar Twin Peaks logo takes center stage, flanked by vertically stacked LED light strips that double up as DRLs and indicators. These connect seamlessly to the inverted L-shaped headlamps, giving the SUV a modern, layered lighting signature. The wide grille carries subtle horizontal LED elements, while the bumper below integrates pixel-inspired fog lamps, a radar unit for ADAS, and a silver-finished skid plate that adds contrast to the rugged front profile.
The Vision S is built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, a flexible architecture that can support multiple drivetrain formats — from FWD to AWD, LHD to RHD, and even electric or ICE powertrains. This versatility means the concept is not just a design showcase but also a preview of Mahindra’s scalable global strategy.

From the side, the Vision S’s proportions highlight its off-road intent. Chunky wheel arches with thick cladding outline the doors and are filled by striking alloy wheels wrapped in 19-inch rubber, with red brake calipers peeking through. Concept touches such as a roof-mounted ladder, a jerry can, and even cameras replacing traditional mirrors showcase its adventurous spirit. Flush door handles and black roof rails keep the look modern and aerodynamic, while the tall stance echoes Mahindra’s legacy of tough SUVs.
At the rear, the Vision S continues its bold design story. The tailgate-mounted spare wheel—finished with “Vision S” branding—immediately recalls Mahindra’s rugged icons like the Thar and Bolero. Tail-lights mirror the front’s inverted L-shaped theme, while pixel-style fog lamps and reflectors on the bumper add symmetry and tech-inspired flair. Overall, the exterior blends familiar Mahindra toughness with futuristic styling elements, hinting at the brand’s next-generation SUV identity.
Interior and Features: Tech-Loaded Yet Practical

Step inside the Mahindra Vision S, and the cabin immediately reflects the brand’s new-age philosophy — a blend of digital sophistication and rugged practicality. Taking centre stage is a wide dual-screen setup, seamlessly integrating the digital driver’s display with the central infotainment unit. These screens will run Mahindra’s latest NU UX interface, expected to support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with connected car tech and a fresh, futuristic UI.
The flat-bottom steering wheel, featuring a bold ‘Vision S’ badge at its centre, comes with multifunction controls for audio and driving aids. Cabin controls are a mix of digital and physical inputs, ensuring ease of use even in off-road conditions — a balance that Mahindra’s design head Pratap Bose describes as “a great combination of digital and physical.”
Premium materials and contrast themes uplift the cabin’s ambience. The dual-tone upholstery, accented by silver inserts and glossy black surfaces, gives the dashboard and seats a lively, upscale look. Bright yellow buckle-style highlights on the passenger side add a quirky, concept-like touch. Practicality hasn’t been ignored either — the SUV gets large grab handles at the rear, a panoramic sunroof to flood the cabin with natural light, and thoughtfully placed storage including twin cupholders on the modern centre console.
On the features front, the Vision S is expected to debut with drive modes, ventilated seats, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, and multiple airbags. Together, these elements underline Mahindra’s intent to make the Vision S not only futuristic in design but also competitive in the highly demanding compact SUV space.
Specifications and Platform Details

The Mahindra Vision S is underpinned by the brand’s new NU_IQ platform, a highly flexible architecture capable of supporting SUVs of different sizes and drivetrains. This monocoque base can accommodate vehicles measuring between 3,990mm and 4,320mm, and is engineered to handle petrol, diesel, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. Both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations are supported, underlining Mahindra’s ambition to create a truly global platform.
For the Vision S, Mahindra has confirmed a 2,665mm wheelbase, which is slightly longer than the XUV 3XO’s (by 5mm) — currently the benchmark in the compact SUV segment. Despite its generous proportions, the SUV will remain under 4 metres in length, keeping it competitive in India’s compact SUV space. The concept car was spotted with a fuel filler cap, suggesting that the production version will initially debut with ICE powertrains, most likely the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.
Adding to its engineering strengths, the Vision S will feature a variable-ratio steering system designed to deliver responsive handling while maintaining stability, even with its tall stance. With the production model expected to arrive in 2027, Mahindra is positioning the Vision S as a future-ready SUV that blends versatility, technology, and capability in a compact yet global package.
